Langstone Cutters

Sanding Bembridge

Bembridge needs to be sanded back to bare wood for revarnishing, which will start on Saturday 27th March - the times are in the rowing diary. Please contact Richard Harrison to book your times. We need to get Bembridge back in the water as quickly as possible!

Easter Egg Row

This family event involves rowing to ‘Crescent Bay’ Northney and then hunting for Easter Eggs (and eating them). If your children would like to take part, then please let Deborah Pentesco-Gilbert know by Sunday 28 March to ensure that enough eggs are bought and hidden.

Cork 2010

The Cork Ocean to City race is 15 mile row is on Saturday 12 June. Mike Gilbert would like to get a crew together and take Bembridge to Ireland to take part, so if you would a place in the Ocean to City crew, please contact Mike soon to find out more. We estimate the cost at £250 each. You get two days of enjoyable ‘craic’; travel out Friday; a free meal Friday night in a local pub; a stern rowing challenge on Saturday – it’s 15 miles of Harbour rowing into the City of Cork; followed by a very friendly Irish reception on Saturday night; and Sunday recovery and return.

Langstone Cutters row traditional fixed-seat pulling boats in Langstone and Chichester Harbours on England's south coast.
Rowing is just about the best exercise you can get, using almost all of your muscles but without high impacts. We row on some of the loveliest waters in the world, teeming with wildlife, and it is enormous fun. The club welcomes rowers of all standards, from elite oarsmen to complete novices. There is rowing to suit everyone, from Sunday paddlers who just want to get out on the water for fun, to rowers who compete in local regattas and national events such as the Great River Race, where Langstone Cutters have a formidable record of success.

Club rowing is on Sundays, at high tide - all are welcome. Just turn up at the slipway between the Royal Oak and the Old Mill in Langstone and tell the beachmaster you would like to have a go!
