Students: These colleges offer scholarships to their students.  These scholarships usually require separate applications in addition to their college application.  Unless otherwise specified, the deadlines given are the programs’ deadlines.   Please note that many universities offer scholarships in addition to the ones listed below. Description: This is a full scholarship, and is renewable for all 4 years. In addition, Belk scholar receives two summer stipends (up to $3000 per stipend) to pursue international study. 10 scholarships will be awarded, please Ms Console in the CCC, room 135 for assistance. Davidson College: Davidson, NC – Bryan Scholarship & Davidson Scholars Program

Description: This scholarship is only for scholar athletes attending Davidson College. Recipients are students with the potential to be strong leaders both in the classroom and in their sports. The Bryan Scholarship is awarded to two scholar athletes (one male and one female) each year. Description: The men of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Northwestern University: Evanston, IL – Good Neighbor, Great Scholarship

            Description: Northwestern University began offering this scholarship to incoming freshman beginning with the 2011-2012 freshman class who graduate from high schools in Chicago and Evanston. The scholarship is designed to eliminate loans and work-study jobs by providing additional scholarship funds to recipients. Qualified candidates must be admitted into the traditional undergraduate program on the Evanston Campus through either the early or regular application process. Candidates must apply for financial aid according to the appropriate deadline dates using the standard materials. Submitting applications late may impact eligibility. Candidates are considered for Good Neighbor, Great University scholarships only at the time of admission as freshman. No transfer students will be considered. Candidates must demonstrate financial aid eligibility as well as financial need. Need is determined by using the FAFSA and Profile applications as well as tax returns, at minimum. 


Central Michigan University: Mount Pleasant, MI- Centralis Scholarship Competition

Indiana University: Bloomington, IN- Hudson and Holland Scholars Program

Description: The Hudson & Holland Scholars Program (HHSP) recognizes academically outstanding Indiana resident and non-resident students. The mission of the Program is to recruit and graduate students from underrepresented populations (African American, Hispanic, and Native American). Primary consideration is given to underrepresented populations, but other applicants are considered. Competitive students should have strong grades, SAT or ACT scores and a demonstrated commitment to serving their community. The annual scholarship award amount is $6,000 per year, with additional incentive-based scholarships available to students who excel academically.

 

Michigan State University: East Lansing, MI- Alumni Distinguished Scholarship

Description: Awarded to the top 15 candidates based on intellectual performance and participation in the MSU Alumni Distinguished Scholarship competition. Invitations to compete in the examination are sent to the most outstanding students who apply for admission by November 1. Renewable over eight semesters**, these scholarships include tuition, fees, room and board (double occupancy in an MSU residence hall and silver meal plan), and $1,000 annually.

 

University of Virginia: Charlottesville, VA- Jefferson Scholars Foundation

Description: The Jefferson Scholars Foundation awards full tuition scholarships to the University of Virginia. DePaul University: Chicago, IL- Presidential Scholarship

Description: If you are a freshman admitted for the fall term, you'll be considered for academic scholarships based on your academic achievement in high school. The Presidential Scholarship, DePaul's most prestigious scholarship, is awarded to a select number of our most academically qualified admitted students. For renewal, you must maintain a 3.3 grade point average.

Description: If you are a freshman admitted for the fall term, you'll be considered for academic scholarships based on your academic achievement in high school. The DePaul Scholars' Award is given to students who have strong academic credentials and have performed above average compared to others in our applicant pool. Description: If you are a freshman admitted for the fall term, you'll be considered for academic scholarships based on your academic achievement in high school. The St. Vincent de Paul Scholarship is awarded to students who have performed well in high school and have qualified based on a review of their academic credentials. For renewal, you must maintain a 2.5 grade point average.

 

DePaul University: Chicago, IL- Community Service Scholarship

Description: The Community Service Scholarship rewards students who have an exceptional record of community service and are committed to engaging in the community while at DePaul. Recipients are required to declare the community service studies minor, which provide a framework for viewing community service from the perspectives of theory, ethics and group dynamics. Recipients also must complete 30 hours of community service each quarter, attend service learning workshops and meet with the program coordinator for advising. Students are asked to develop an electronic portfolio highlighting their experiences. To be considered, students must demonstrate an exceptional record of service with priority going to those exhibiting consistency in their commitments, as well as an understanding of their service as it relates to larger social issues. Submission of the FAFSA by February 1, 2012 is required for consideration.

 

DePaul University: Chicago, IL- Sid Feldman Legacy Scholarship

Description: Every year, the DePaul University Center for Sales Leadership sponsors a legacy fund for two students from the Chicago Public School district to receive a partial tuition scholarship for four years of undergraduate education at DePaul University. Scholarships will be issued to the two most deserving students entering DePaul University's College of Commerce in the fall 2012. To be considered students must be admitted to DePaul University and intend to enroll in the College of Commerce. Candidates must submit two letters of recommendation from a non-family member. candidates must complete a FAFSA for consideration towards financial hardship and submit a two page essay addressing the following issues: 1) Describe your commitment to furthering your education, including your career goals for the first five and ten years post college graduation. 2) Describe your commitment to your community, including past, present and potential future volunteer experience or community engagement in any volunteer, neighborhood, church or other activities. Give examples of leadership roles you have held and explain why involvement in your community is important to you. 


Purdue University: West, Lafayette, IN- Trustees Scholarship

Description: The Scholarship is offered to those with exceptional academic achievement and those with experience in leadership, service, and/or school or community service. Renewability is for up to four years of continuous, full-time enrollment at Purdue University's West Lafayette campus. Students must maintain a Purdue GPA of 3.0 or higher to renew each year.

 

University of Notre Dame: Notre Dame, Indiana- Hesburgh-Yusko Scholars Program

Description: The Hesburgh-Yusko Scholars program award merit scholarships of $25,000 per year to 20 selected students. The criteria for selecting the scholars are distinguished academic accomplishments, exemplary moral character, demonstrated leadership abilities and a sincere commitment to service. Our nominee will have to submit an application online, and your counselor will also have to submit an online recommendation. The deadline for our nominee to submit online is November 15. Boston University: Boston, MA – Trustee Scholarship Competition

Description: Boston University’s most prestigious merit-based award recognizes students who show outstanding academic and leadership abilities. Students from the United States and around the world are nominated by high school principals and headmasters. Those considered for the Trustee Scholarship typically rank in the top 5–10% of their class and demonstrate exceptional records of service and activity in their schools and co-mmunities.  While the competition is especially rigorous, the benefits are considerable. A Trustee Scholarship covers full undergraduate tuition plus the orientation and undergraduate student fees and is renewable for four years if certain criteria are met. Grand Valley State University: Allendale, MI – Awards for Excellence Scholarship

Description: This scholarship covers the difference between full-time Michigan resident tuition and non-resident tuition plus an additional $1,500 per year. Recipients must have a 3.5 GPA and a 26 ACT composite score. Grand Valley must be the first institution they attend following high school graduation. Recipient must maintain a 3.25 GPA at Grand Valley, be enrolled full time, eight consecutive fall/winter semesters and meet the Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress requirements.

 

Grand Valley State University: Allendale, MI – Presidential Scholarship Award of Distinction

Description: Qualifications for this scholarship include a 3.8 high school GPA and a 32 composite ACT score. Awardees also receive an Award for Excellence Scholarship (see above). Additional amounts of up to $2,000 are awarded to students who are National Merit Finalists. Recipient must maintain a 3.5 GPA at Grand Valley, be enrolled full time, eight consecutive fall/winter semesters and meet the Financial Aid Satisfactory Academic Progress requirement.

 

Indiana State University: Allendale, MI – Presidential Scholarship

Description: Qualifications for this scholarship include a cumulative GPA of at least 3.7 on a 4.0 scale, a 24 ACT composite score, and a ranking in the top 10% of your senior class. In addition, candidates must be full-time students who will be enrolled in 12 or more credit hours per semester at ISU. Description: MSP scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis to students admitted to the Columbus campus for the autumn semester following high school graduation. Applicants must be US citizens or legal permanent residents of the United States. Students wishing to compete for these awards must be in the top 20% of graduating class, 3.3 GPA or higher, and an ACT composite of 23.

 

Millikin University: Allendale, MI – Presidential Scholarship

Description: Students with a high academic profile are invited to apply to Millikin's Honors Program and the presidential scholarship. This scholarship provides an amount equal to the cost of tuition, and is renewable for four academic years. Students must be admitted to Millikin by December 15th to be considered for the Presidential Scholarship/Honors Program. *Students admitted after December 15th are eligible to apply for Millikin's Honors Program.

 

Yale University- New Haven, Connecticut

Description:   Yale has a program similar to Harvard’s for students with financial need. If your family income is less than $45,000 per year, and you graduate from Yale in four years, you will not have to take out student loans. Some work-study may be required. In addition, Yale will reduce the contributions expected of families with incomes between $45,000 and $60,000.

 

University of Missouri: Columbia, MO - George C. Brooks Scholarship

Description: Awarded for outstanding academic achievements, the Trustee Honor Scholarship is merit assistance and does not have to be repaid. It is renewable for three additional years provided a cumulative GPA of 2.75 is maintained. If you are receiving grant, loan, or employment assistance in addition to the Trustee Honor Scholarship indicated on your award notification, you must complete Grinnell's regular application process by our published deadline each year. Once you have paid your deposit, a special certificate for the Trustee Honor Scholarship will be sent to your high school principal for presentation at graduation or honor ceremonies.

Description: The Chicago Public Schools Scholarship program provides full-tuition, four-year scholarships to graduates of CPS high schools who have been admitted to the University of Chicago. These awards are made to outstanding students who demonstrate the greatest potential for making contributions to the academic, extracurricular, and communal life of the colleges. There is no separate application process for the CPS Scholarship and The University of Chicago waives the application fee for all CPS applicants.

Description: Thanks to an extremely generous gift of $100 million from an anonymous alumnus, we are now able to offer an even more competitive financial aid package to many of our students. The Odyssey program has allowed more students from modest backgrounds the ability to pursue all that the University has to offer without the worries of working to pay off loan debt. For students with family incomes below $75,000 a year, all expected federal student loans are replaced with Odyssey Scholarships. For students with family incomes between $75,000 and $90,000, half of their expected federal student loan obligation is replaced with Odyssey Scholarships. You must apply for need based financial aid in order to be considered for this need-based University funded scholarship.

Description: In honor of the Chicago Fire Department’s and Chicago Police Officers’ service to the University community and the city, the University of Chicago offers full-tuition scholarships to select children of active Chicago firefighters and police officers. To be considered for a full-tuition scholarship, candidates must qualify for admission to the University of Chicago and be the legal children of currently active, sworn Chicago Fire Fighters and Chicago Police Officers who will remain active for the duration of their children’s college careers. Each winner is guaranteed full tuition for four years of undergraduate studies (12 academic quarters) provided he or she makes satisfactory academic progress.

 

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign: Urbana, IL -Jonathan Baldwin Turner Scholarship

Description: Provides merit-based scholarships to outstanding students entering the College of Agriculture, Consumer and Environmental Sciences at the University of Illinois. Description: To qualify, you must have an ACT composite of at least 28; 3.7 GPA, community service, and a study abroad program. If you are nominated for a Presidential or Full Tuition scholarship, you must interview on-campus in spring semester of your senior year in high school. Those who do not interview risk their nomination being forfeited. There is no separate application.

 

Illinois State University:  Normal, IL – Presidential Scholarship

Description: The Presidential Scholarship Program is the most prestigious scholarship program available to new freshmen. Presidential Scholars receive up to $32,000 ($8,000 per year renewable for up to four years). Recent Presidential Scholars have had an average ACT score of 32 and an average cumulative GPA of 4.0 (or above) on a 4.0 scale. This select group of students will be contacted by mail, email, and/or phone with details outlining the scholarship process. A separate scholarship application is required. Students who complete the application process for the Presidential Scholarship but are not offered the award will automatically be offered a Redbird Academic Scholarship.  (see below)

University of Texas:  Dallas, TX - Eugene McDermott Scholars Program

Description: This is a four-year, full-tuition scholarship with includes monthly stipends and a book allowance. To qualify, you must have an ACT composite of at least 32; long record of community volunteerism in school; broad and eclectic interests in science, literature, and the arts; and social skills to interact easily with adults as well as peers. Description: Rick Bayless partners with Kendall College to offer the Frontera Scholarship.
