Lane Technical College Prep High School

Welcome to  Lane Tech's Hewitt College & Career Center.
The CCC was opened in December of 2009 as a central location, within the school, for students to access information on colleges, trades, careers, scholarships and upcoming visits from representatives from over 100 schools and businesses looking for the brightest and best Lane Tech has to offer. Funds for the Center were donated by a Lane Tech Alum, Mr Mark Bocianski, now working for Hewitt.
The large area, formerly two print shops, in calming hues of sage, cream and purple, is decorated with original works of art on loan from the LT Art Department. School pennants ring the room and a small lounge area complete with bean bag chairs and area rug offers a place to do research in comfort. A large fish tank, complete with colorful fish helps balance out the stress of daily life.
Material is available including everything from college applications to FAFSA forms. Books, pamphlets and catalogs are on hand for the benefit of all students.
The College Career Center is also where college, business & military recruiters assemble for one-on-one visits with students.
A computer area, complete with new wireless pc's connected to the Internet can seat up to 40 students.
A separate meeting area is available, complete with projector and screen, to schools, trades and businesses wishing to hold workshops and seminars with classes.
Staff is on hand from 7:30 until 3:30 daily, to answer questions and assist with filling out applications.
The CCC is located in Room 135, next to the student lunchroom. Regular hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 3:30pm.
Mr Jeff Vacek, Counselor, has his office located in the CCC and is available to students for assistance.  To reach Mr Vacek, call  773-534-5417 or  email  JMVacek@cps.edu To schedule college, military or business visits, or check the availability of the conference area, please call Dona Slowik at 773-534-5400x23390 or email dmslowik@cps.edu.
