Over the past few years Lane Tech has started the tradition of sponsoring trips to visit colleges and universities.  The purpose of these trips is to expose Lane Tech students to the variety of college options. This March we will be taking thirty juniors to visit four schools. This trip will take place Wednesday, March 21^st - Saturday, March 24^th.  Your student will only have to miss classes on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday.  Friday is a non-attendance day for students.  Students must get a permit signed by all teachers in order to attend.  Please consider allowing your student to visit four schools at a reasonable cost.  Feel free to contact Sarah Langford with questions at slangford1971@gmail.com or 773-534-5400 ext 23653.

 Wednesday, March 21^st

• 1:00 pm - Depart Lane Tech College Prep High
• 11:00 pm - Check in at the Drury Inn in Memphis, Tennessee

Thursday, March 22^nd 

• 9:00 am - Admissions meeting and campus tour at Rhodes College
• 11:00 am - Eat lunch in the Rhodes College Dining Hall
• 12:30 pm - Depart for Nashville, Tennessee
• 4:00 pm - Check in at Hampton Inn West End in Nashville, Tennessee
• 7:00 pm - Dinner and music at Robert’s Western World
• 10:00 pm - Back to Hampton Inn

Friday, March 23^rd

• 8:30 am - Admissions meeting and campus tour at Vanderbilt University
• 11:00 am - Lunch in The Commons Dining Hall at Vanderbilt University
• 11:45 pm - Depart Vanderbilt University for Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky
• 4:00 pm (eastern time) - Admissions meeting and campus tour at Bellarmine University
• 5:30 pm - Depart Louisville for Bloomington, Indiana
• 7:30 pm - Check in at Hilton Garden Inn – Bloomington
• 8:00 pm - Students and chaperones will explore Bloomington, Indiana, eat dinner, check out campus activities at Memorial Union, etc.

Saturday, March 24^th

• 9:00 am - Breakfast at area restaurant (TBA)
• 9:45 am - Tour of school given by chaperone/alum of IU and possible meeting with representative from IU
• 11:30 am - Lunch at dining hall at IU
• 12:30 pm (eastern time) - Depart Bloomington, Indiana
• 5:00 pm (central time) – Arrive back at Lane Tech College Prep parking lot

 Cost of this trip:

This trip will cost $185.  This amount includes the charter bus, meals (except dinner on Friday night in Bloomington), lodging and the cost of chaperones.  If accepted, the full amount of the trip ($185 check or money order made out to Lane Tech College Prep) will be due on NO LATER than 3:00 pm on Thursday, February 9^th. NOTICE ABOUT CANCELLATION: STUDENTS WHO CANCEL BEFORE 3:00 PM ON Wednesday, February 15^th WILL GET ALL OF THEIR MONEY BACK.  STUDENTS WHO CANCEL AFTER 3:00 PM ON February 15^th WILL NOT THEIR MONEY BACK UNLESS ANOTHER STUDENT OFF THE WAIT LIST FILLS THAT SPOT.  MONEY WILL NOT BE RETURNED UNTIL AFTER THE TRIP (LATE MARCH).

Necessary Forms:

Before being considered for this trip, the signed student forms must be HANDED to Ms. Langford (Room 252 or 322A – do not put them in my mailbox). The TWO STUDENT FORMS (applications and no swim form) are due no later than Wednesday, February 1^st at 3:00 pm. The TEACHER RECOMMENDATION form is due no later than 3:00 pm on Friday, February 3^rd.  However, the sooner you get your forms in the more likely you are to get a spot on this trip.  It is first come, first serve as long as you meet the criteria, give good answers to the questions and have a good recommendation from a teacher.
