Dear parents of perspective seniors:
I wanted to address the issue of post secondary educational opportunities and preparation for such events. It is our goal as a staff to inform you and your child of our commitment to your child’s academic future and post secondary aspirations. With this in mind, the coaching staff is in the progress of implementing our SAT readiness component of the football program. This involves monitored after school online lab practice exam testing and after school tutorial sessions in both Math and English. One valuable online resource we wanted to make you aware of is our school website that focuses on the SAT preparation. Upon navigating to the school site you will find: SAT Question of the Day and the SAT Insight 500 and 600 series. This information is directly linked to the College Board site http://www.collegeboard.com. This site is critical for online registration, preparation tips, and retrieval of test scores. Additionally, we have enclosed a testing schedule with this letter. We are promoting all rising seniors to take the March 13th SAT test. This is important because of test familiarity, providing proper remediation, and developing a strategy in helping and identifying our student athletes who need further assistance. Most important, the test score will be for the College coaches who will visit our building during May NCAA college football recruiting season. At that time, College coaches request an unofficial GPA (core) transcript and S.A.T. scores of all prospects whom they visit with. We look forward to working with you in addressing your academic and recruiting concerns. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me or Coach Williams at 757-648-5500. Sincerely, Tommy Reamon Head Football Coach Landstown High School |
