On this page we list some of the key local responses to the consultation on the Minerals and Waste Preferred Strategy. Whilst those that are accepted will be published on East Sussex County Council's official consultation portal, we thought you might like to see what the locals are saying.

CPRE Sussex response

The Council for the Protection of Rural England has made a persuasive case which can be downloaded at their website. They invite East Sussex to back to the drawing board and discount the "medieval" practice of dumping rubbish on greenfields.

The Waste Problem's response

The Waste Problem is a group set up around Laughton and has commissioned a report from ENPLAN which looks at objections to the site between Laughton, Halland and East Hoathly. Carries good maps and photos showing the impact on the local environment.

Deanland response

Deanland Wood Park have had a professional report produced by DMH Stallard lawyers which looks at the Broomham Farm site directly opposite Deanland which has a population of a reasonably-sized village.

Piltdown and Newick's response

Piltodown Action Against Landraise has put together a very professionally-produced report which can be downloaded from the Save Newick website (pdf 5.15 MB) which has been produced by ENPLAN. It includes a wealth of maps and photos showing the detrimental impact on the local environment of siting landraise in that particular area of search.

Chiddingly Parish Council's response to the Minerals and Waste Preferred Strategy: they raise issues with planning policy, poor transport links, proximity to where the waste has been produced and many other aspects.
