The Boer War

The Boer War was declared on 10th October 1899 and ended with the Treaty of Vereeniging  on 31st May 1902.

This year is the 110th Anniversary and we invite you to visit our SOLDIERS OF THE QUEEN  subpage to view the histories of the local men who fought in this war:

Heritage Lottery Fund

Thanks to a generous grant from the Fund we are currently purchasing essential  equipment to enable us to catalogue and scan and backup for posterity not only the whole of the "Somptin' Old" Collection of Photographs assembled by Mike Prince over a number of years but all the photographs held by Pastfinders along with archival documents.

We are holding a WWII extravaganza on the 2nd October [see our programme details] this year utilising  the new equipment.
