Vacancies Created to Deceive Coastal Commission, Huge Loss of Recreational Boating Resources in Favor of Commercial/Residential Development

The California  Coastal Commission votes 11-1 to reverse their 2008 findings and continue to reduce recreational boating in Marina del Rey despite overwhelming evidence of Manufactured Vacancies & the manipulation of market demand in boating!

The largest land grab of premium public real estate in the United States continues on the coast of Los Angeles. With the public harbor of Marina del Rey in need of renovation, Los Angeles County officials are diminishing its greatest public asset by increasing commercial & residential uses while reducing the recreational boating (the harbor's intent) and public access to the California coast. The California Coastal Commission has found that LA County is out of compliance with the Coastal Act, but the local officials continue to violate it at every turn.  Our valuable coastal public lands are being privatized while piecemealed planning continues to hide access issues, cumulative impacts and helps to limit public participation.  Our laws (Coastal Act and Local Coastal Program) are mere inconveniences that can be overcome by LA County agents and staffers. The MdR boating community, residents, and nearby neighborhoods' voices continue to grow as more people realize the future of Marina del Rey and the coast of Los Angeles may not include them.

LA Planning Commissioner sums up the problem in Marina del Rey Harbor.
