Resource Management
Resources
The resources in the media center are carefully selected to support the
teachers' classroom goals, the curriculum, and state and national standards. In
order to ensure that our media center has the highest quality resources
available, I use professional reviewing sources that specialize in materials
for children and young people. Although I use a variety of reviewing sources,
my personal favorites are School Library Journal, Booklist,
and T.H.E. Journal.
Circulation Policies
Resource Checkout
Playaways and books are generally checked out for two weeks at a time, with
the exception of reference books and magazines, which may only be checked out overnight.
Overdue Books & Fines
Students who do not return their books on time are charged fines. Fines are
5¢ per day for regular fiction and non-fiction books; the fines for reference
books and magazines are 25¢ per day
Student IDs
How to Get a Student ID
Students who are attending school at the time of fall picture day or retake
day automatically receive a student ID.
Students who miss picture and retake days should come to the media center to
have a photo ID made. Likewise, anybody who transfers to the school after
school pictures have been taken should come to the media center to have a
school ID made.
Cost of IDs
Each student receives one ID at no cost, whether made by the photographer or
the media center. Replacement IDs cost $3.00 and may be purchased in the media
center.
Students are required to have their student IDs for
book checkout to use the Internet in the Media Center.
Media
Center Volunteers
Volunteers are essential to our media center. Not only do they help run our
two book fairs every year, we also have a very dedicated group of moms who come
in every week or two to help us keep our books shelved and to make sure that
our shelves are in order. We could not be as effective as we are without them! |
