What?

This website is dedicated to the collection, review and dissemination of information pertinent to the development of the new SMP for the city of Sammamish.

The city of Sammamish is currently undertaking an effort to update their Shoreline Management Plan, (SMP).  The SMP consists of regulations governing shoreline environments within the City. Anyone owning property on or near a shoreline in the city of Sammamish will be directly affected by this new SMP.

How will you be affected?  What can you do?: Letter to Homeowners 4/18/09

Most of the people working with this group own property on some body of water located in the city of Sammamish.  However, anyone is welcome to join in this process.  Interested in helping out?  Want more information?  Contact us at: lakesamm.homeowners@gmail.com

Guiding Principles For This Group

  1. Regulations should focus on protecting the shoreline and near-shore environment.
    • Development that improves the shoreline and near-shore environment should be encouraged.
    • Development that has no impact to the shoreline and near-shore environment should not be regulated within the SMP.
    • Development which may impact the shoreline and near-shore environment and is allowed by the WAC/RCW should also be allowed with mitigation alternatives.
  2. Limit the degree to which legally built structures become non-conforming due to changes in the SMP.
  3. Directly incorporate regulations from CAO that are applicable to the SMP rather than by reference.
  4. Docks are not just for mooring watercraft; they are an important part of waterfront living and reduce activity at the fragile near-shore environment.
