Samples below were collected at sites in the upper end of Beaver Lake, Arkansas (War Eagle arm and White River at or above Hickory Creek) in summer of 2009, preserved with Lugol's solution. Considering the age of the sample (~1.5 years), their condition is pretty good. Permanent slides were prepared using HPMA resin (see method in links page) with crystalline iodine added. Images were viewed using a Ziess upright microscope with phase-contrast optics using the 63x objective. The images were captured using a 1.3 mega pixel high resolution USB2.0 color digital image system.
