Welcome!

Greetings to all Lake Champlain Rowers!

Thanks to all of you for an amazing first season, short as it was!

We've put up a webcam over the Heros' Welcome dock so that we can keep an eye on water conditions, even from 6000 kilometers away.  You can see it here: http://216.158.165.35:1050/img/main.cgi?next_file=main.htm

We're busy getting our club set up and officialized, and organizing some events for next summer, including a historical row from the bottom of the lake (that's the north end, for those hydrogeologically challenged...) down to Isle la Motte, with as many human-poweed boats as possible.

This flotilla event is modelled after the Vogalonga in Venice, which has been running for the past 34 years and sees between 3000-6000 participants in any sort of paddled or rowed craft.  You can see some of the craziness in the photo at right, when all those boats need to fit through one of the tighter canals!

The plan would be to launch the event this year in celebration of the first foray of Samuel de Champlain on our lake, from Rouses Point to Isle la Motte, but then to continue hosting the event in years to come.
