The chain is long enough never to suffer from extreme angles, but it still makes sense to avoid extreme combinations.

We suggest using the small chain wheel only with the first 6 or 7 rear cogs, and the largest chain wheel only with the 7 smallest cogs. This matters more with the thoroughbred racing dérailleurs like SRAM Red and Shimano Dura-Ace.
