La Bernardinia Baroque Ensemble La Bernardinia Baroque Ensemble is one of the more recent additions to Philadelphia's vibrant early music scene. Performing on copies of period instruments, the group specializes in chamber music from 1600-1750 presenting engaging programs featuring repertory from France, Germany, Italy, and England. The core ensemble consists of Rainer Beckmann, recorder; Donna Fournier, viola da gamba; and Marcia Kravis, harpsichord. Guest musicians are often invited to join the ensemble in their exploration of the extensive, varied repertoire of Baroque chamber music. During the 2011-2012 Concert Series the ensemble is joined by Sarah Cunningham, viola da gamba; Steven Zohn, baroque flute; Clara Rottsolk, soprano; Laura Heimes, soprano; Rebecca Harris, baroque violin; and Frank Oberschlep, recorder. The group's name refers to the title of a piece by Italian composer Girolamo Frescobaldi that La Bernardinia performed on their debut program.
