About the Artists

How can you deal with labels, tags, and misconceptions?

How do you feel stereotyped?

Woodlawn School, a private school north of Davidson, is working with Susan Harbage Page in a grant project called Labels, Tags, and Misconceptions. This grant will analyze common stereotypes and their impact on everyday people. Each grade level will focus on one specific stereotype, including issues on gender, poverty, senior citizens, religion, and women's rights. Also, this website will contain interviews on how fellow peers feel about particular labels that they may hear or even be called. In response to the interviews, another page evaluates how to deal with these common misconceptions.

Update (April 4): The students have recently screen printed their designs onto the t-shirts and are finishing up final designs.  Opening night at the McColl Center is April 17th from 6-8 PM.
