I'm an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics, and Computer Science at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Before joining UIC, I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California at Davis (supervisor: Dr. Hans-Georg Mueller) and the University of Pennsylvania (supervisor: Dr. Pamela Shaw). I received my Ph.D. in Statistics (advisor: Professor Byeong Uk Park) from Seoul National University, South Korea.
My research interests encompass functional data analysis, shape-constrained modeling and inference, and errors-in-variables problems, with a focus on nonparametric and semiparametric estimation approaches.

In the era of data science, novel findings can be presented by a data-driven approach. However, understanding and advancing fundamental principles behind the new knowledge necessitate hypotheses and theoretical imagination. I'm pursuing balancing those two aspects in my statistical research.
