Welcome to the home page of the Kentucky Pony of the Americas Club. We are a non-profit organization devoted to promoting POA's in the Bluegrass. The club currently holds 3 two day Interbreed Competition (IBC) shows per year. The IBC format helps expose other new horse people and owners of other breeds to the versatility and family friendly format of POA shows. The POA breed was developed in 1954. POA's are between 46" and 56" tall with kind disposition and quality conformation. The most striking attribute is Appaloosa coloring. Pony of the Americas are known for extreme versatility. The typical POA at a show competes in everything from Halter, Western Pleasure, and Hunter classes to Barrel Racing and Pole Bending in top form. They are the perfect mount for youth!
POA shows are family friendly events. Exhibitors cheer for one another and are famous for loaning anything from a girth to a pony when the need arises. We hold a pizza party or cookout for exhibitors after the show on Saturday. The kids usually hang out on their ponies building new friendships and strengthening old ones. Our goal is to have FUN is a safe environment! If you would like to join in on the fun please contact us!
