Welcome to the home page of the K-W Shuffleboard League.

Message from the KW Navy Club, one of our League sponsors -

It is with incredible sadness that I let you all know of the very sudden passing of K-W Naval Association President Walter Harvey on Sunday afternoon, May 27th.  Walter was just coming to the end of his first year as President of the KWNA, and was very much looking forward to continuing on his journey in this role.  Walter was also a former President of the Navy League of Ontario - K-W Branch.

Walter's smile and hearty east coast laugh was always a welcomed one to whomever he encountered.  He spent many years working to support the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet program through his work with the Navy League of Ontario, supporting Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps 94 Warspite for many years.  He followed this up by becoming involved as a director then Executive Officer of the K-W Naval Association before assuming the position of President just 11 months ago.

Walter could always be found having a good time, whether it was sharing a laugh on the patio, singing a song while enjoying karaoke, cooking his famous gravy in the galley or spending time with his family; especially his three grandchildren.

Walter is survived by his wife Alma, daughter Crystal, son Steve and their families as well as many other family members and friends.

As arrangements become available I will ensure they are passed along. Please keep Walter's family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Terri-Leigh Saunders, CD

The League Trophy went to Larry Leiskau's Branch 50 Hangers, who finished with 125 wins. In a very close 2nd place were Brenda Brown's Brenda's Devils, with 122. The ever-competitive Allstars, under the leadership of Roger Stephenson, came in third with 114.

The Playoff day itself was a photo finish in the "A" division. Larry Leiskau's Branch 50 Hangers, with 8 wins plus 16 points, won the plaque. Tim Davidson's Hardrocks were right on their tail, with 8 wins plus 11 points. Roger Stephenson's Allstars were in the show position with 7 wins.

Jerry Baker's Pucksters ran away with "B" Division, winning 9 out of 10. Gord Ross's Wannabees were 2nd with 7 wins. 3rd place honours go to Judy Dennis's Willbees with 4 wins plus 59 points.

Janet Jorhrendt won the Gene Leiskau Memorial Award for most sportsman-like player, as voted by the players. Janet came out on top of a three-way race with Gord Ross, and Cliff Battiste.

Many people to Thank to pull off an event of this nature so smoothly -
  • Judy for the organisational/registration work
  • Rose for taking care of the scoreboard
  • Paul, Heidi, and Dave for BBQ services rendered
  • Karen, Deb, Fran, and Gord for selling the 50/50 tickets
  • Kelly for the use of the cooler
  • Stan for the use of his Branch
Just a final note:
It was nice so to see Brenda Brown come out and play, despite some recent serious medical issues. You can't keep a good (wo)man down.
