Walking Down the Middle

Walking Down the Middle
I hold my head up high,
and walk straight down the middle.
Too liberal to be conservative,
    Too conservative to be liberal.
Both pro-choice
    and pro-life.
Tough on crime,
    but abolish the death penalty.
Support the troops,
    but not a pointless war.
Spiritual and religious,
    but non-denominational,
    give freedom and tolerance,
    then learn everything you can
    from All People,
    of All Beliefs,
    and All Walks of Life.
Give us all the Right to Vote,
but respect our Right Not to Vote -
    for puppets
mastered by the rich men’s hands,
    Stuck up their backs.
Neither democrat
    nor republican,
or even an independent really -
I am Just Me -
    Walking,
        Head Held High,
Straight Down the Middle.
