I love to sew, and I love looking at the colors and feeling the
textures of fabrics. I also love the thrift store - you can get "gently
used" clothes for just a few dollars each. The drawback - they don't
always fit. Or they have something about them that you just don't like.
So I recently started altering the stuff I get. It opens up a whole new
clothes universe - a little too small? Add some fabric to it and play
around with it until it fits. Take out things you don't like, add
embellishments, whatever you like. It is fun, and not nearly as time
consuming as regular sewing. Plus if I do decide to sew something start
to finish, I now have even more tools for making it a truly one of a
kind piece. And for fixing the little boo-boos that I inevitably make
along the way! |
