Introduction to CCSLab.

Nowadays, the prevalent support of wired/wireless network and the improvement of network resources enables users to interact and collaborate with each other with a variety of networked devices. With the advent of Internet of Things (IoT) or Internet of Everything (IoE), it becomes possible for geographically dispersed users, devices, places, and services to connect, interact, and collaborate with each other. Such a collaborative computing environment includes a computer supported cooperative work (CSCW) system, an online game, a social networking system (SNS), a cloud computing system, a ubiquitous computing system, and so on. The main goal of collaborative computing environment is to provide a user with content in which he/she is interested at any time from anywhere.

Collaborative Computing Systems Lab (CCSLab in short) belongs to the Department of Smart ICT Convergence and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Konkuk University. CCSLab is also a partner of Digital Content Research Center.

In CCSLab, we are researching on how to support the interactive performance among collaborating entities (users, devices, services, places) even if the number of entities and the required quality of content increase. Another mission is to support a communication framework that can reduce the cost of developing communication functionalities in a collaborative computing system.

Current research topics in CCSLab are as follows:

  • Communication framework for collaborative computing systems (ex. distributed computing systems, social networking services, IoT platform)

  • Efficient content prefetching/replication/distribution mechanisms
