For those of you new to our school, ktmurphymatters.com began life as a single-issue advocacy site around March of 2008, when the Stamford Board of Education was considering the shuttering of a Stamford school in order to close a budget gap.
Parents, teachers and students circled the wagons. "Save Our School" signs sprung up overnight around the Cove. Editorials were written. Our comment boards were flooded. A protest was staged. Neighbors and local store owners displayed unanimous support. City Hall reconsidered and, for now at least, Murphy has been spared an ignominious end.
With the site sitting fallow on the WWW for some time afterward, the members of the PTO thought why not redeploy the sleeping URL as a home page for the PTO? And so we have. We've lost the exclamation point (KT MURPHY MATTERS!) and would now like for all to think of the site as something more akin to "Matters Concerning KT Murphy." See, that kind of works, doesn't it? |
