K.T Murphy PTO Needs You!
We have open positions on the PTO Executive Board and co-chairs for activities and events We are currently looking to fill these for the new school year 2010-2011. | Co-Vice President (s) – share responsibilities of Co-Presidents with meetings, programs and events. |
| Fall and/or Spring Book Fair – Co-chair assists co-chair with coordination of set up, volunteers and the week’s event. |
| | Fundraising (Need 2-4 chairs) – be a participant on a committee , new ideas welcome |
| School Spirit (3) – participate with various events to foster spirit and community amongst students and parents (ie. Talent show, etc.) |
| | Hospitality/Co-Hospitality – co-share, shopping for refreshments, etc for school activities and events within the pre-determined budget. |
| BOE Rep – Attend Board of Education meetings take notes to update and report out to team |

Please check off which event you would like to assist with: | Multicultural Festival – October 23, 2010, assists with planning event and day of activities. |
| School Photographer: Attend school events and activities and compile photos for yearbook. |
| | Fall Fundraiser/Pie Fundraiser Co-Chair – Coordinate distribute, communications, materials, assist with fundraiser pick up day on November 20th |
| Yearbook – assist with coordinating photo’s and uploading to format supplied by school photographer |
| | Garden Club – Coordinate a KTM ongoing beautification projects and fall/spring day of caring Ongoing: Weeding, mulch, planting. |
| School Spirit Wear – Promote and sell school spirit wear, coordinate orders and distribution |
| | Fall or Spring Book Fair – Volunteer for the week or Volunteer for a day(s) or a few hours |
| Parent Volunteer(s) – you will be contacted as needed for various events/activities |
| | Fundraising Coordinator: New idea’s/suggestions welcome. |
| Teacher Appreciation – Spring/other – Assist with lunch and various events during appreciation week during spring and at holiday times |
| Election Day Bake Sale – November 2, 2010 During elections and externally sponsored events that take place at school. Coordinate day of or be on a shifts of volunteers. |
| 4th Grade Parent Liaison: coordinate 4th grade Nature classroom fundraising efforts, and 5th grade moving up ceremony at year end. |
| | Community fundraising/Outreach – explore ways to raise funds for various culture and arts events and programming through local businesses and grants |

KTM SAFETY GUIDELINES *** Attention *** Below are student drop off and pick up guidelines that require everyone’s support! It is important that pick up/drop off procedures are followed in order to ensure the safety of all KTM families.- PLEASE NOTE – Cars are NOT allowed to park between posted signs in front of the school building. Infractions will result in ticketing by the Stamford Police Department.
- Please stay in line when dropping off or picking up. An alternative to waiting in line is to park your car in a valid parking spot and walk your child to the door.
- Do not stop in middle aisle and cross your child in between cars to pick up/drop off.
- Do not park in neighbor’s driveways or block driveways when parking.
- Please cross in the crosswalks.
Drop off: All students must be dropped off in the morning at the main entrance of the building on Horton Street. Students are to wait in the main lobby until the first bell. This area will be supervised beginning at 8:45. Students will then be dismissed to their classrooms.
Pick up: In the afternoon, all students who are picked up by parents or walk home will be dismissed from the main entrance in the front of the school. The only exceptions are students who reside on George Street or streets adjacent to George Street and walk home. They will exit through the door at the rear of the gym.
Bus riders will be dropped off and picked up on the black top outside the cafeteria.(George street)
Dismissal of all walkers and car riders will be by floor level. Bus students will be called by bus numbers upon bus arrival.
Visitors: When visiting the school please make sure you register at the main office and receive a visitor pass.
For the safety of our children & others, please:
DO NOT violate KTM’s school policy.
DO NOT violate state law.
DO NOT jeopardize all our children’s safety!

Murphy PTO is always in need of parents who want to help make a
difference. Whether
your interests lie in volunteering, fundraising, social events or
literacy, there are many opportunities to offer your skills. Your
children will benefit immeasurably from your active participation in
their school community. So get involved this year, even if your time
is limited. There are many chances to help on a small scale as well
that will benefit our children, their teachers, and our school. If you
