I study how population and community ecology influence the conservation of species
and interspecific interactions. My current research program
focuses primarily on the conservation ecology of birds in tropical
forest in South America, with some comparative work in temperate forest in Canada. My research questions are inspired by ecological theory, close observation of patterns in nature, and conservation problems I have encountered on the ground. The results of my work help us understand the comparative ecology of tropical and temperate communities, and improve conservation practices.
