Hello! I'm MICHAEL KRISKO and I'm running for Alderman in Ward 7 in the City of Calgary in the municipal election of 2013.
I don't live in a dreamworld! The practice of spending the public's money by politicians and government administrators as if it were their own is out of control. I've worked hard in my own businesses and practiced austerity and that is what I believe is necessary in a politician. In my opinion, YOU don't have the money to finance ballooning government expenditures. You've paid your fair share for city council's financial folly through direct/indirect property and business taxes, excessive charges for utilities, user fees, and fines.YOU made this town prosper, not the politicians nor developers.
LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY STANDING COMMITTEE ON GOVERNMENT AGENCIES In-Person Statement Given to The Public Appointments Committee By Mr Krisko: "Taxation is just killing us… my first consideration is the taxpayers..."
Background: - twice elected Board of Education Trustee and four years on a Housing Board, - worked as a regulatory policy advisor, Law and Security Instructor, a general contractor, - currently operate a business, Momentum Outdoor Recreation, manufacturing kayaks . - sound academic qualifications: M.A. in Judicial Administration, and other degrees in Law and Justice.
These qualifications will work to benefit you and City Council.
- The issues of transparency, disclosure, the awarding of city contracts, and conflict of interest, must be reviewed and policy changes made, help me bring these matters, yours, and more to City Council in 2013.
ITEMS FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION FOLKS! - I believe the money which was or should have been designated for snow removal, was witheld to pay for the Peace Bridge. The amounts are approx. the same 25 million. We have to stop the nonsense at City Hall.
- Let all municipal candidates disclose their campaign financing before the end of election campaigns.
- What will be the City of Calgary's share of the 769 million contract awarded to Lavelin and Accione for the construction of the SE Ring Road project? Are any of the candidates receiving campaign contributions from these companies or associated developers? Money has to come from somewhere, yes? Methinks the voters are being led down the garden path with campaign glitter.Voters deserve answers, not just a name on a sign!
Maybe its time we came up with a new system of tendering that includes an impartial member of the judiciary. I'm making an attempt to clean house. I urge you to vote for Michael Krisko, someone who can change these types of corrupt tendering and election practices. |
My Opinion: Overall, I suspect the SE and SW Ring Road contracts and land purchases, including rezoning of recreational areas are the objectives for funding the current campaigns. I am skeptical that the province will pay for the entire cost of the SW Ring Road. The route is yet to be established. Will it go through T'sing lands, 37th or as yet undisclosed land currently held by developers. Too many distinct options still on the table. I believe there is a great likelihood that the City of Calgary will pay a portion of the costs. Basically, they are putting the fix in on the various zoning and development committees, and trying to guarantee the pre-approval of their bids or increase the amount that the city will pay. When the costs come in, they will be significant. In fact, such items may never be tendered according to the way the past aldermen do business at city hall, look at the Peace Bridge! WHERE I WANT THE CITY TO BE IN 15 YEARS: Calgary is home to many companies concerned with providing cutting-edge environmental research, monitoring, technology and services to the oil sands. Employees are well qualified and sincere in addressing the oil-sands environmental concerns. I believe that City Hall, through its aldermen, must do its part in helping to promote such environmental research, monitoring and activities as a source of secondary industry. Like you, I'm for a clean and safe environment, whether in the city, lakes and oceans, or the oil sands. The oil-sands and the environment are not mutually exclusive, but inter-dependant. Vote for someone who will stand and promote the oil and gas industry and the environment, so that Calgary will be a leader in environmental oil-sands research - soon!
I manufacture kayaks and other outdoor goods. I strongly support recreation and the environment, as they add to our quality of life and health.
I'm offering an alternative with experience and committment to only YOU. I'm asking for your vote in 2013. Vote Michael Krisko in Ward 7 for Calgary City Council! Let me do what I'm good at. Please Join Me! Ph: 403-366-4860. Thanks To All, Mike K!
