Ministry

Hearthstone Ministry
On the first Sunday of each month, Koinonia leads the church service at the Hearthstone Assisted Living Community in Amity, PA. We spend time studying the word, singing praises to God, and fellowshipping with each other. The service begins at 1:00 pm and usually ends by 2:00 pm. All members of Koinonia are encouraged to attend. It provides us with an opportunity to minister to and encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ. It is also an opportunity for evangelism, as some of the residents are not believers. So far we have seen God's blessing on the ministry through increased numbers and increased openness among the residents. In the future, we hope for more interaction through talent shows, game nights, etc.

Faith In Action

This ministry encourages people to get out into the community to demonstrate Christ's love through acts of service. We all know individuals who are going through tough times. Maybe an illness has prevented work from being done around the home, or perhaps the passing of a loved one has left a husband or wife in need of some form of assistance; Whatever the situation, if there is a need, we work with our members to come up with a plan of action to meet that need. Our commitment with Faith In Action is to get Koinonia out into the community once a month to live out our faith in action, and not just solely from time spent in Christian fellowship at Church or at Bible study. We show we our Christian through the love of Christ demonstrated and experienced first hand in the homes of those in need.

Men's & Women's Ministries

Once a month the men and the women of Koinonia enjoy time apart from each other in activities that are more gender specific. For both groups this provides opportunities to learn new things as everyone benefits from the various gifts and expertise of other group members.

For example:
The men may engage in activities which teach you how to fish, shoot rapids,
change your brakes or learn carpentry and how to fix leaky pipes.
The women may engage in activities which teach canning, preparing a thanksgiving meal,
making crafts, shopping expeditions or even chick flick movie nights.

This ministry is a great chance for new and old members to bond and form strong friendships founded in Christ Jesus, it also provides insight and knowledge on how to perform various duties and tasks that you may never have been instructed in while growing up. If you are interested in learning something specific or in helping others learn something- please contact the facilitator in charge of the group, it is possible they may be able to work with you.

Prayer Ministry
Prayer requests and praises are taken each Friday night in a prayer journal which is passed around so that everyone has opportunity to participate. These prayers are then added to the Koinonia Message Board prayer forum. Members of the group (and only members of the group) can access the requests and post comments and words of encouragement directed to whichever individuals they wish. If a prayer need arises suddenly and requires immediate attention, contact Courtney so she can start a prayer chain via Facebook. Also, if a prayer request is personal in nature feel free to email the request to Koinoniainfo@gmail.com and remember to place "Private Prayer Request" in the subject heading. The leadership team will pray over the request, but the request will not be posted to the Message Board.

Each Friday night prior to the lesson there is time for group prayer for any who wish to participate. Contact Courtney Harris for more information. Also, every few months Koinonia hosts prayer events. All information for these events is posted via Facebook. It is extremely important for all Koinonia members to have access to both Facebook & the Message Board if you need access contact anyone on the leadership team and they will make it happen. If you do not have regular internet access please let us know so that we can keep you as informed as possible. Please know, we would still like to get you signed up so you can participate in this ministry whenever the opportunity presents itself.
