The transportation systems we currently use are not sustainable.
Cars, Trucks, Rail, and Air travel burn fossil fuels that are the largest contributer to climate change and global warming. We cannot continue to use them and must develope different methods to move people and goods. Light rail trains and monorails can be high speed and powered with sustainable energy like wind turbine and solar power. Electric automobiles and trucks can allow us mobility and have little negative impact on the environment. Our City must begin to invest in these types of systems here and now. Take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtrB82YObXw
If GE could build a high speed transcontinental solar powered monorail for 6 million Euros a mile, I would invest my 401k in the company. It could power both the monorail and the cities along its route.
The huge and wasted financial muscle of Wall Street has yet to be brought to bear on this problem. We advocate making a noise loud enough to awaken the financial markets to the need to retool our economy to become sustainable and ecologically friendly. When our dysfunctional markets see the potential for growth in green products and designs, it is possible they will begin to invest the capital that is needed to bring about a transformation that will awe the world.
Here is where GM should be. 150 mile range at 90 mph and charge it from roof panels at a price of $30,000 including vehicle and panels.
America has fallen behind in the sustainable market due to sloth, lack of imagination and risk aversion causing a failure in producing the necessary innovations that a sustainable economy demands.
Here is the first design I have seen for a parking garage that I can accept. It is called an artificial mountain.
