The Energy & Motor Drive (EMD) Laboratory conducts cutting-edge research in the fields of power electronics, electric machines, motor drives, and power conversion systems. Our research aims to develop high-efficiency, high-performance technologies for next-generation energy and mobility applications.

Our research interests include motor and inverter control, motor fault diagnosis, power converter design, and intelligent control technologies. These technologies are applied to a wide range of applications, including electric vehicles (EVs), electric ships, urban air mobility (UAM), electric aircraft, renewable energy systems, home appliances, and industrial robotics.

Current research focuses on efficiency optimization, high-performance motor drive systems, advanced inverter technologies, fault diagnosis, and intelligent control algorithms for next-generation electric drive systems. We actively collaborate with industry through joint research projects while conducting government-funded research to develop innovative technologies for future mobility and energy systems.

Our research areas include:

1. Motor drive system development using microprocessors and embedded programming

2. Power converter and inverter design based on power electronics and electronic circuit technologies

3. Signal processing and AI-based fault diagnosis for electric machines and power converters

Energy & Motor Drive (EMD) 연구실은 전력전자, 전기기기 및 모터 구동 기술을 기반으로 모터 및 인버터 제어, 모터 고장진단, 전력변환 시스템에 관한 연구를 수행하고 있습니다. 고효율·고성능 구동 시스템과 차세대 에너지 변환 기술을 개발하여 미래 모빌리티와 산업 분야에 적용하는 것을 목표로 합니다.

주요 연구 분야는 전기자동차(EV), 전기추진선박(E-Ship), UAM/전기항공기, 신재생에너지 시스템, 산업용 로봇, 가전 및 산업용 모터·인버터 등이며, 다양한 응용 분야에 적용되는 핵심 구동 및 전력변환 기술을 연구하고 있습니다.

최근에는 차세대 모터 및 인버터의 효율 최적화, 고출력·고효율 구동 기술, 고장진단 기술, 지능형 제어 알고리즘 개발에 연구 역량을 집중하고 있으며, 정부지원 연구과제와 산업체 공동연구를 활발히 수행하고 있습니다.
