Introduction
The Greater Knoxville Chapter of the American Recorder Society was formed in 1995 to promote early music performance in east Tennessee and neighbouring states. The group explores a wide variety of music which includes repertoire from the Medieval through Contemporary periods. Instrumentation is principally recorders augmented by viols, crumhorns, cornamuses, psaltry, harp, a variety of percussion, cornetto, sackbut and serpent. Meetings are held one Saturday a month, September through May, and are open to anyone having an interest in early music performance (all levels are welcome). Greater Knoxville Recorder Society meetings are in workshop format; some are led by invited teachers and some are group play days. Please see the Schedule and Contact pages for more information. |
