POA

Chapter Financial Policies

  • $1 from each item sold as part of the Fruit Sale/Candle Sale is placed in a family account. The money in the family account can be used to pay for FFA events/merchandise. (Conventions & FFA Jackets).  The accounts can not be cashed out.  Upon leaving membership any remaining funds reverts back to the FFA chapter.
  • Members who sign up to attend FFA functions where the chapter covers the cost of attending have up to two school days prior to the event to cancel, if the event costs less than $10 or less a person.  If they chose not to attend or do not tell Mrs. Williamson they are not attending in the aforementioned amount of time, they will be held financially responsible for the cost of the event.  (Illnesses will be evaluated on a case by case basis.)
  • Members who sign up to attend FFA functions where the chapter covers the cost of attending (in whole or part) where the cost of the event is more than $10, have to communicate the canceling of their attendance to Mrs. Williamson five school days in advance or they will be held financially responsible for the cost of the event. (Illnesses will be evaluated on a case by case basis).
  • Leading the Challenge, State Convention, National Convention, State and National Leadership Conferences require a deposit when signing up for the event. Once the deposit is paid you are committed to attend, if you chose not to attend it is your responsibility to find a replacement or you will be responsible for the full amount of the registration.

Chapter CDE Policies

  • In order to attend an invitational or regional career development event, each member MUST practice two times.  Long practices (2+ hours can count as one practice) at Mrs. Williamson’s discretion.  Two practices must occur between each event, exception is the fall CDEs to the fall invitational.
  • All state qualified teams must practice at least three times during the month of April, if they plan on attending State FFA Convention.
  • All members must have at least a D in all of their classes before they can attend any FFA events.  Grades will be checked by Mrs. Williamson. All members who wish to attend National FFA Convention must have at least a C in their classes.
  • Each CDE team has a team captain. The team captain is responsible for setting up and communicating the times of practices to ALL team members, high school and jr. high.  They should record the time on the calendar outside the agriculture room and verbally communicate it with Mrs. Williamson.

Infractions to School Policies (Grades & MSHSL Violations)

  • The following activities count towards your infractions:
    • Regional CDE Competitions
    • Invitational CDE Competitions
    • Leading the Challenge
    • National Convention
    • State Convention
      • Multi-day events still count as one event!
  • The following activities will not count towards your infractions:
    • Greenhands in the Spotlight
    • County Fair
    • State Fair
    • Summer Leadership Conferences
    • Chapter Leadership Conferences
    • Chapter Monthly Meetings and Recreation Activities
    • Service Activities
      • Students may or may not be allowed to participate in any of these events based on the advisor’s discretion, but they will not count towards completing the infraction.

In addition if you have a MSHL violation for tobacco or alcohol you will be immediately removed from leadership responsibilities (committee chair, CDE captain, officer).  Any member with a violation will not be eligible to hold a leadership role in the KMS FFA.

Chapter Overnight Policies

  1. Members will be in their rooms with the lights out at stated curfew time.
  2. All curfews will be before midnight.  In the event of arriving at the hotel after midnight, the curfew will be ½ hour from the time of arrival at hotel.
  3. Members of the opposite sex should not be in each other’s room.  In the advent that this is necessary the room door must be propped COMPLETELY open.
  4. If you are in the room of a member of the opposite sex, including a relative and the door is not open, all persons in the room will be sent home.
  5. If you break curfew you will be sent home, your parents will be called to come and get you.

Chapter Transportation Policies

·        Policies as covered by the student handbook.

·        Members can transport themselves to and from CDE practices.  Transportation is available with a district employee if you chose to transport yourself or ride with another FFA member, the school/FFA chapter is not liable for any instances that occur.

·        If volunteers are providing transportation as outlined in the student handbook. Permission slips must be received from the parents of all members involved.

·        Mrs. Williamson must be made aware of alternative transportation needs at least 24 hours in advance of the event’s beginning.

·        If alternative transportation is used, it must be done by a school district employee or YOUR parent.
