*ABOUT YOU

1. Name: James
2. Job: Web Designer
3. Sex: Male

*ABOUT JAPAN

1. How did you meet Japanese culture first?

Having to learn Japanese in Primary School, age 5. As a teenager I had many friends also interested that drew me back towards Japanese culture.

2. What kind of Japanese culture are you interested in? (Anything is O.K.)

I like discovering a many things that I think a lot of other people interested in Japanese culture don't look at as much. Music: J-Jazz, Shibuya-kei, J-hip-hop. I don't mind horror films but I'd rather watch something more comedic or dramatic (Taste of Tea, Kamikaze Girls) etc. I do enjoy reading various things like manga, 2ch, various blogs as well.

3. How do you contact with Japanese culture? What kind of media do you use?

Apart from actually visiting Japan itself, nearly all is via the internet. I do, however have a few manga titles on my bookshelf.

4. Are there any communities talking about Japan around you?

Sure. I created one. I don't participate in it as much as I should, however.

5. Are there any obstacles when you want to know about Japanese culture? What is inconvenient for you?

Not being able to read and hear Japanese as well as I'd like to. I do enjoy searching around online finding new things, so the inconvenience of not having new things to see and read immediately in front of me is actually enjoyable.

6. Do you have something made in Japan? What is that?

I have quite a few Japanese things with me, but my electronic dictionary would be the one that stands out.

7. How is the impression about Japan in your country?

Japan in both my countries is generally very respected. We see a lot of Japanese culture in the form of anime, manga, games and such, however I don't think most people don't have an accurate view on Japanese society and customs.

8. Please tell us about Japan you think you only know.

I don't think there is anything that I only solitary know in regards to Japan that nobody else does. A lot of my understands have come from friends and other people also interested in the things I am interested in.

9. Please tell us good points of Japan Japanese don't seem to notice.

How clean the streets are and how polite everyone is. Politeness where I live doesn't really happen. Everyone is rude and ignorant here, and it is nice to see a society where people are nice and polite to one another.

10. If you were born in Japan, what do you want to do?

The same thing I am doing now. I do like a lot of Japanese web design, and I've always been amazed at a lot of Japanese design studios and the things they create.
