Come to our next meeting!
Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity 1530 Greenview Drive SW Suite 107 Rochester, MN 55902 Welcome Volunteers!... Thank you for considering K-M as a place to volunteer . We are busy and your help would be wonderful. We are working on the 1st K-M Build in partnership with Rochester Area Habitat for Humanity. The K-M Community Committee has been working hard to find land, select a family, raise money and mobilize volunteers. The partner family is Ben and Miranda Wilson. Groundbreaking was August 15 and excavation began the following week. We are recruiting construction leaders and volunteers to help. Possible tasks: Sept – Footings and ICF, Oct – Finish ICF and start framing, Nov – Complete roof framing and install sheathing. December – Install roofing (sub out that work) and continue enclosing the house. All tasks are tentative. We limit the numbers of volunteers per work day so reservations are required. How can I sign up? Contact Patricia McCleese– volmgr@rahh.org or call 252-0849x4 Once a volunteer date is agreed upon and reserved, a confirmation sheet will be sent. A few days before the volunteer date, contact Patricia to confirm number of volunteers and tasks. Location is 1503 8th Street NW, Kasson. FAQ for
1st time construction volunteers
Should I bring tools? We do provide tools. If you want to bring anything – please leave it in the car until needed. Do I need to be experienced? You do not have to be experienced with construction. It is helpful, however, to have a sense of humor and a degree of flexibility. Type A people – take a deep breath - it does get going - eventually – so relax. Is there a dress code? You must wear closed toed shoes and layer your clothing to adjust to temperature. This is a real construction site so you will get dirty. Should I bring anything? Water bottle, gloves (just in case) What about food? Unless notified, bring your own lunches and beverage. What about time commitment? The day is from 9am-4pm. If people can only work ½ a day, the shifts are from 9-12 and 12:30-4pm. Can I just show up? NO, you have to reserve a date. We limit the number of workers to insure a safe work environment and because we value your time and want you to have enough to do. I want to help but not in construction. We have many committees, special events, and other fun ways to use your talents or to learn new skills. Contact Phyllis Kuntz ptkunz@kmtel.com or check out more opportunities on this web site. More questions? Concerns? Contact information: Patricia McCleese, 252-0849 ext4, volmgr@rahh.org Thank you! Patricia
