About  KLWNBUG

This group was set up to campaign for better cycling facilities. We still do that but we prefer going on rides to sitting in council offices. With such easy access to the countryside can you blame us. It only takes 10 minutes to cycle from the town centre to the countryside. For the vertically challenged cyclist this is your place, we do have hills but they are not very big. There is a lot of flat open fenland about, add a few very minor humps and the Royal Estate at Sandringham is just a few miles up the road.

                                                                                                   Rides and Socials
Rides normally start at 10 am at Lynnsport. Car drivers can reach it through Columbia Way but if you are on your bike it is on the
Sandringham Cycle Path. Rides vary from a few miles round town to longer trips of 40 miles+. Fear not, it is NOT a race. The pace is that of the slowest and stops are as frequent as necessary (or when thirsty!).

                                                                                                         Meetings.
We normally have a social meeting once a month at 8 pm on the second Thursday of each month. This takes place at the Ouse Amateur Sailing Club bar in Ferry Lane, a lane just off King Street, King's Lynn, just near the Arts Centre. The bar is more popularly known as
The Ouse Booze

Cycle forum                                                                                                               BUG representatives do sit on the King's Lynn and West Norfolk Cycling Forum. As a result Norfolk County Council have published a cycle map of King's Lynn and we have produced a hazard form for reporting dangers to cyclists. We have also produced a list of areas where we would like to see improvements. Finally we do get chances to see plans and make comments. See the Bug Bulletin for meeting times and dates. Members come from all parts of West Norfolk and are of all ages.

                                                                                                     Want to join?
To join us is very simple. Just meet us at Lynnsport on one of the rides listed in the Rides List on the side bar, or email Trev at: trevorriches@talktalk.net or Pete at: peteayton@gmail.com  Especially suitable for those who like a little real ale there is a social  KLWNBUG meeting on the second Thursday of each month (except Xmas etc.) see above, where you can meet and get to know some of us. Do not worry about costs, we keep them to a minimum, and should your cycling abilities be a bit lacking then likewise DO NOT let that put you off. There is no need to have an expensive tourer or racing bike, we have had in the past riders on road racing bikes along with commuter and shopper types.
