Over the past 150 years, women in the United States have gained many rights. In 1923, National Woman's Party proposed that men and women should have equal rights throughout the United States of America. Through a tough battle, women in the United States gained the same rights as a man .
Women in Afghanistan have had no such luck, and have unfortunately been losing their rights over the last 150 years.
In just about twelve years, the women of Afghanistan have faced many difficulties. Women in Afghanistan have lost the right to leave their homes without wearing a burqa (a full body covering with a mesh opening to look through), the right to study after the age of eight, to wear high-heels, to wear make-up, to go outside without a male escort, and much, much more.
Can you imagine losing this many rights in such a short period of time? How would this make you feel?
