HOW WE MET

The summer of my sophomore year of college I decided to study abroad in Spain. I specifically requested an all girls apartment. 

I arrived and dropped off my things and then left to go exploring. As I opened the door to the apartment later, I saw a red-skinned, blonde BOY walking from the bathroom in only a towel. My jaw almost hit the floor, he was handsome, had a good body, and a flashing smile. Not to mention that accent. We let him stay, but for some reason he was always flirting with me even though I specifically told him that I would not get involved with my roommate. 

For the entire first month I tried to avoid him, but his cooking and charm won me over. Have you ever seen him surf? I remember telling my mother about him over the phone and she was worried. She could hear something in my voice…. moms have a second sight like that. We kept in touch over the years and then out of the blue he calls ands asks if he can visit me for 2 weeks. Well I don't have to tell you the rest, but I will say that my mother and all my friends were right. He is the one! 

Kjell's Version
I went to Spain in 1999 to explore Spain and to pick up some Spanish for a few months. 

In Spain I realized that my name, Kjell, was an unusual name outside of Scandinavia. Since my name was so foreign for the Basques the people that assigned rooms and apartments to the students mistook my name for a girls name. The result? Oh yes, I ended up with four lively girls in an *all-girls* apartment. You should have seen the look on our landlords face, Jesus, when he realized that one of the expected girls, was a guy. 

As you might know by now, Jeanine was one of my room mates. From day one I was irresistible drawn to her, and after five days *and our first kiss* I was forever in love with her. Of course our amazing, spellbound summer, was just that. One summer. We kept in touch for years and I went to see her when I was studying at the University of Pennsylvania but things really started to happening about a year after my graduation. I was in between two work projects and had time off, I persuaded Jeanine to let her *lost Swede* come and visit her again.

I will always remember that spring morning when I saw her again, it was just MAGIC! To say that there were sparkles between us would be an understatement. Seeing her again was more like being in the middle of an electrical storm, holding a metal rod ;)
