KISSS (Knowledge, Information and Skills Sharing Session) is a 2-day event which aims to provide a venue for students to learn about various technologies which are practical and are not usually given much attention in universities' curriculum. Students can attend this event for FREE. This year, we focus on open-source softwares and languages.
Blender is a 3D graphics application released as free software under the GNU General Public License. It can be used for modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, rigging, water simulations, skinning, animating, rendering, particle and other simulations, non-linear editing, compositing, and creating interactive 3D applications. Blender is available for several operating systems, including Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows, along with other operating systems. Blender has a robust feature set similar in scope and depth to other high-end 3D software such as Softimage|XSI, Cinema 4D, 3ds Max, Lightwave and Maya. These features include advanced simulation tools such as rigid body, fluid, cloth and softbody dynamics, modifier based modeling tools, powerful character animation tools, a node based material and compositing system and Python for embedded scripting.

The current release (JavaFX 1.2, June 2009) enables building applications for desktop, browser and mobile phones. TV set-top boxes, gaming consoles,Blu-ray players and other platforms. The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is a free software raster graphics editor. The GIMP product vision sees GIMP as a high-end program for the editing and creation of original images, icons, graphical elements of web pages and art for user interface elements. If you want to learn how to create and edit images without using licensed graphics editor, register here. To know more about GIMP, visit http://www.gimp.org/ HTML with CSS and JavaScript HTML (Hypertext Mark-up Language) is the predominant markup language for web pages. It provides a means to describe the structure of text-based information in a document—by denoting certain text as links, headings, paragraphs, lists, etc.—and to supplement that text with interactive forms, embedded images, and other objects. HTML can also describe, to some degree, the appearance and semantics of a document, and can include embedded scripting language code (such as JavaScript) that can affect the behavior of Web browsers and other HTML processors. In other words, it is the language used to create web pages. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used to describe the presentation (that is, the look and formatting) of a document written in a markup language. It's the design of your web pages. JavaScript is a scripting language used to enable programmatic access to objects within other applications. It is primarily used in the form of client-side JavaScript for the development of dynamic websites. If you want to create awesome websites like this, register here.
