FUN FALL FIELD TRIPS: JOIN US!
|
On Assignment: Gold Fever!
|
Thursday, October 22 through Monday, October 26th
Review of work - Sunday, November 8th 5-8pm
$425
This exciting multi-day field trip through rural Oregon is a chance to
fully immerse yourself in the photographic process. On this trip,
historic gold mining towns are the focus. Seasoned trip leader Robert
(Bob) Davis will be your guide.
Bob's helpful advice and guidance, paired with his intimate knowledge
of the area will make this a very special trip. You'll get to train
your camera on a wonderful array of rusty mining equipment, creaky old
cabins, antique cars, and even covered wagons. The trip will include a
special-access, photographers-only ride aboard the Sumpter Valley
Railroad's antique steam train.
In a real blast from the past, you'll also get to photograph the train
in action, as the engineer drives by with a full head of steam. The
trip will also include plenty of opportunities for gorgeous landscape
photography in and around the Elkhorn and Strawberry Mountain Ranges.
Throughout the trip, Bob will work one-on-one with each photographer,
making sure everyone gets beautiful images. This trip is perfect for
photographers at all levels who are ready for an intensive few days of
shooting. The group will stay one night in Baker City, two nights in
Sumpter, and one night in John Day.
Along the way, you'll also stop at the ghost towns of Whitney and
Greenhorn, the highest incorporated town in Oregon. Class will meet at
Newspace on November 8th for a potluck editing and review session.
On Assignment: Halloween Shoot Out with Susan Bein
Friday, October 30th 5:30pm-10pm (Meet at Oak's Park)
Saturday, October 31st 10am-4pm (Meet at Newspace carpool to Sauvie Island)
Review session at Newspace: Saturday, 11/14 10am-1pm
$185
On this photo field trip, you'll spend the weekend exploring the
macabre side of Portland with photographer Susan Bein. The trip will
begin Friday night with a special-access, after-hours shoot at Oak's
Amusement Park. With Susan's inspiring guidance, you'll learn all about
her blur and light painting techniques as you roam the park with your
camera.
On Saturday, you'll head out to Sauvie Island to photograph the
historic Bybee Howell house. It's the perfect location for ghostly
images à la macabre photographer extraordinaire, Ralph Eugene Meatyard.
The trip wouldn't be complete without a dash of Halloween flair - trip
leader Susan Bein will have masks and costumes on hand - perfect fodder
for some truly unusual images. Participants are also highly encouraged
to bring costumes and props to play with in the field.
Susan's unique perspective and sense of fun will really make this a
special trip for those looking to break of of the mold and get creative
with their photography. Class will meet in the Newspace digital lab on
November 14th for a Photoshop demo and hands-on practice session with
images taken during the shoots. You'll learn how to add textures and
layer effects like glows and blurs to your images to add drama and
suspense.
