Welcome to my prayer corner! I'll post prayer requests here as they arise, and update them with the answers I see.
Please pray for:
5/5/10
Thanksgiving that the technical glitches got fixed, so I can finally update again!
Thanksgiving with Y (a young student) and family, for the new baby brother.
For a new project happening at Suginami church: a community garden! May this little patch of earth be a blessing to the people. May relationships grow alongside the plants, and may the summer sunshine bring a bountiful harvest--in more ways than one. ^_^
8/7/09
Those traveling: for safe journeys and fond memories
For Justin and Katrina, who will be married this month.
For church and school leadership, that those with authority use it well, and remember where it comes from--that they remember to ask God what He thinks. ^_^
For chance meetings where ever they occur, that they be a blessed opportunity for witness.
6/20/09
Thankfulness for all the "sweet" times at Family Day today. ^_^
For the instructor, the children, and the families I'm meeting at karate class, and also that I may be a bold witness to them.
For English Weekend, an LLI event coming up next weekend. Please pray for open hearts, as this weekend gives us a lot more time to spend with our students, and many more opportunities to show and share our faith. (Also, please pray for open/clear skys as well, since we'd like to go hiking in the beautiful mountains around the camp! ^_^) The weather was beautiful, and so was the river we hiked along.
For wisdom in decision making around the world--from the most far-reaching political cabinets to the most private individual person, and especially for those leading churches, that they remember to seek God's perfect wisdom and will.
5/18/09
For restful sleep for those who need it.
For Stateside Orientation (for incoming missionaries) which will be starting shortly in St. Paul, MN. May these "new" servants be able to prepare for their missions abroad, and set their minds at ease, if need be.
Please pray for more willing servants. As of now, there is only one person signed up to join us next fall. We'll have at least 4 openings, so either we need more people, or God has something interesting in store...
For birthdays and anniversaries, that they be a time of celebration and fond memories.
5/12/09
Thanksgiving with Matt and Becky, recently engaged!
Thanksgiving for Katrina, protected in a recent car wreck.
Prayers for upcoming events:
5/16 Omiya: Game Day (For the answers to prayer here, please check out my blog for 5/18/09), Suginami: Family Picnic, Hongo (and group): Strawberry Picking--whew, busy day!
5/30 Center/LLI: Outdoor Picnic
6/26-28 Center/LLI: English Fellowship Weekend
Prayers for my students, especially today for T and U (both non-Christians). We spent most of class today on a capsule history lesson, from Abraham to Jesus (focusing on the Exodus and Passover). I'm still not sure where that came from, but they were really into it. May the seeds nurtured today soon grow and produce fruit!
4/9/09:
For the people of Italy following the earthquake, for healing and recovery (physical and emotional).
For all those suffering from spring allergies (thankfully, I'm not included in this category, but I feel for those who can't enjoy the cherry blossoms as much as they'd like).
4/2/09:
For first-day butterflies, both mine and those of my students. Apparently they're just as nervous to have a new teacher as I am to be the new teacher. All my first day classes went absolutely wonderfully. Despite a few jitters right before each class, I was also surprisingly calm throughout the day.
For safe travels for the V-ers leaving Japan: Katrina and Haidee (also for J3 Pamela). (Hm, interesting. I'd forgotten about this one. All 3 of them got back to the States safely, but Katrina was in a wreck a few weeks ago. Very thankfully, she was unharmed.)
For smooth transitions for the V-ers staying in Japan, but leaving the VYM program: Becky and Amber. (Becky and Amber have both found teaching jobs outside of VYM, and seem to be really enjoying them.)
Straight from the Bible: "Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." (Matt 9:38). As of now, there is only one new person signed up for next year. Please ask God to lead more people into His service worldwide, but especially now I pray for Japan and the VYM program. We need more people! (Unless, of course, He has something else in mind. In that case, may His will be done. Amen.)
3/17/09:
Thankfulness for our Japanese teachers.
V-ers Justin and Katrina, who will have an engagement ceremony on Saturday. That the love they have for each other would continue to grow, always. The ceremony went very well, and the party/reception afterwards was a lot of fun.
Sanity as we make preparations for moving, which will happen next week. Moving went amazingly smoothly, actually. I had less to carry on the trains than I was expecting, thanks to the rented truck/van. It seems like the other new V-ers are settling in well, and the V-ers on their way out are slowly but surely pulling together all their loose ends here in Japan.
The pastors in Japan. They're stretched so thin (often one person serving several churches), and under so much stress. There's still much work needed in this category, but I've been hearing about at least one pastor who has found some time recently to take a break and spend time with his family. I'm very thankful for that.
My Japanese friend N. She was very active in the Church, but I haven't seen or heard from her at all recently. The last time I heard from her, she was struggling with some things she'd seen and heard at church. God is truly good. Last Saturday (4/4) I talked to N, and we met up in the evening for a girls' night at the onsen. She's doing really well, has found a new church that she's attending, and is starting to reconnect with many "old" friends.
