Throughout the years members of Kilmarnock and Loudoun Amateur Radio Club have activated many special event stations. The basis of these stations is to promote amateur radio within the local community to further the aims of the hobby whilst celebrating local events.
In recent years members of the club have been particularly active with Castles And Stately Homes On The Air (CASHOTA), Burns Day, Museums Weekend and many other special events throughout the local area. These events have proven to be very popular with members of the public who have taken a keen interest in the magic of radio and subsequently joined the club. The DX contacts made by the special event stations brings world-wide recognition for the club.
The club is also very active with the RSGB IOTA contest and in July 2008 entered two individual stations from separate locations in Scotland (GM7A on Kererra Island) and Northern Ireland (GI3YS on Rathlin Island).
