aka: Mulie, lunch. The Mule Deer is the most common deer species west of the Mississippi (spelled it right the first time!). It is larger that the eastern Whitetail Deer. The Mulie gets its name by its large mule like ears. They travel alone or in small herds. The meat of the Mule Deer (and all others for that matter) is called venison and is some of the finest eatin' you can imagine. Even a small Mulie will feed a family for quite a while. Where else can you feed your family for a month or two at the cost of a few hours work and a bullet? Buck Mulies have antlers that are shed every winter and regrown in the spring. The antlers generally get a new point every year so you can tell the approximate age by the points. Does don't have antlers. |
