About Us

In 1981, nine horsemen and women created the Northeast Kansas Hunter Association (NKHA), which sanctions hunter horse shows for riders of all ages and all levels of experience. The circuit was designed to provide a fun, educational experience for riders in a hunter ring.

The objectives of the NKHA (KHJA) are:
  • To further the education of the membership in all aspects pertaining to hunter competition
  • To establish and promote a uniform body of rules governing the conduct of horse shows sponsored or sanctioned by the association
  • To ensure the fair enforcement of such rules for the common benefit of all participants
  • To further the art of riding and to promote and encourage good horsemanship and sportsmanship

In 2010 we changed our name to the Kansas Hunter Jumper Association. Our name change reflects the expansion of our organization to include our growing jumper ring and the broadening membership, while maintaining our hunter ring traditions.
