Below is a picture of the Knife River, we are working next to the bank on the left side

Below is a map of Mercer county in North Dakota with tools used to map out various archaeological sites as well as their coordinates.

First 1 by 1 meter square dug at the site I was working on, we've gone down into the earth around 3 1/2 feet since then (I'll get pictures of that soon).

Below is a bucket used by the mining cranes south of Stanton, the cranes themselves are gigantic.  You can see one operating in the lower left hand corner of this picture, but it doesn't do justice to their actual size in person.

Below is a reconstruction of an Indian Earth lodge that would have been built by the Mandan and Hidatsa Indians of this region.  The structure is supported by cottonwood tree trunks and branches with sod placed on top.  Larger lodges can house as many as twenty family members.

Here's an earth lodge depression at another historic site we visited; the largest at the site.  Measuring roughly 80 feet long and 40-50 feet across it was used primarily for various religious rituals.
