Having a Resume is orthodox having a website is necessary. Especially for a Technical Communicator whose role is still not recognized and who has to handle so many profiles. As the STC (Society of Technical Communicators) defines it “”. Therefore just being called a Technical Writer in India does not satisfy me. What I write in place of Objective in my Resume and what actually defines me is “Why I am a Technical Communicator” and the answer says – I have three interests; Language, Design and Computers, It is Technical Communication which lets me practice all three. Human Resource departments in India still call us Technical Writers which actually is understatement about the versatile profile we have. We Write, We design, We Train, and we build the Communication-Product of any Product we work for. We handle the communication visual or written and also the verbal. I too have varied interest and all my interest becomes refreshing agent for the other interest. When I am bored with one I work with other, when I am not writing I am busy with designing training material, when I am not designing I struggle with new Technologies in Technical Communication and why remaining a Technical Communicator not only keeps me occupied rather satisfies me. |
