May 2009

Wow, it sure has been a long time since this site was updated. Dreadfully sorry, but that's the way the ball swings.

However, I am delighted to announce the roaring success of:

The Lord Of The Rings:
The Musical

It was a spectacular performance, and I am incredibly proud of each and every one of you! Not only is it only our secons full year as Green Theatre, but our cast was doubled that of last year, and it was possibly the biggest cast on the KES stage to date!

The Link will be updated within the next few days. I don't have an excuse anymore, do I?

Green Theatre Uncovered:
THE LION KING

Outstanding performance! Shame it was only one, eh? Oh well. Just wait until next year!

Maskwork: the HYENAS

Sorry for the delayed update, work built up in the "holiday".

Hope you guys had a good break...now it's back to work. Haha! The script is now half-finished, and more speaking parts will soon be available, such as lionesses and hyenas. If you would desperately like one, go to Jenny, she'll be floating about somewhere...

We were thinking about holding a Green Theatre Bake Sale (although it's not definate). If anyone is interested (which we know you are, as many of you have expressed interest), let us know, give us your ideas and tell us what you can cook...or buy from the Sultan Centre. With that, we can raise money to pay for costume material and the like, and to put in our kitty for future use.

On that note: a whole new set of stage make-up has arrived! Hopefully, we will have another stage make-up Saturday workshop, so keep your ears peeled for that, those who are interested.

Those of you who went to Dream Dealer at the Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiya, and enjoyed it, the DVD will soon be available for KD5.

Those of you who read this (which I hope is most of you), we'd like you to start thinking about costume and make-up and lighting and such. We are running out of time, and while we'll be having break times and Saturday rehearsals, time is tight. Don't ask about more than one after-school sessions a week, as everyone's schedules are already heavily booked. Of course, If anyone wants to come to schools in the evening (doubtful) let us know.

Please send this to other members who might not have the link or is not cureently on my mailing list.

If anyone has any questions or suggestions, send them to jenny.greentheatre@gmail.com

P.S. BLACK TROUSERS AND GT T-SHIRTS ON THURSDAY, PLEASE! Anyone wearing a skirt will be forced to wear the Drama Department's trousers. Mwahahaaa!

Edit: SCRATCH THAT

Thanks to Paren't Day (all students cower at the very mention of it), there is no school on Thursday.

HOWEVER: if anyone is willing to come in to school at 2:30pm, be my guest. We'll still have the Drama Studio.

If anyone reads this before tomorrow, please note there is going to be a meeting on Wednesday 2nd break in the Drama Studio to talk about rehearsals and such. It's rather urgent

P.S. The Ahmadi Singing Group is doing a performance of 'The Pirates of Penzance' at the Mishref Theatre on the 15th - 17th April. Tickets (I think) are KD3. If you're interested, let Jenny know, she has Wasta!...and she's in it...

Thursday 18th January 2008

Oh no! Work has begun!

Welcome back guys, I hope you had a wonderful holiday, and I hope your exams weren't too hard.

Thank you very much to the 17 of you who turned up to our first session of 2008! I think we had a lot of fun.

As you know, we will be starting work on our workshop, 'The Lion King: STOMPED OUT LOUD!'. Auditions will be held next week for singing, acting and movement. Those of you who know people who don't know this, please let them know! It'll be a very nasty shock for them if they arrive and they are asked to audition!

Over the next week, I will try to put up notices of how this will be done down in the Drama Studio, so keep your eyes peeled!

Remember, this "show" will have something for everyone to do, whether you want to be on stage or not. Green Theatre is all about working together, helping each other and having fun together. No one should feel left out.

What will (probably) happen:-

We will start off with the usual warm-up. Then we will divide the audition process into three parts:

  - Singing

  - Acting

  - Dancing

You will be told what to do for each area. Those of you who wish to have a major part, please have a think about who you'd like to be, and let me know on the day. There's going to be a ,lot of competition, I just know it!

It may be that we will hold auditions over two sessions, as I have a feeling the first few weeks of term may be a bit hectic for some people.

See you Thursday! And good luck!

Dec 2007:

Happy holidays guys, and a Happy New Year!!! And good luck with your exams in January! I know I need it!

As soon as Green Theatre commences presumably on the 24th January 2008, no more messing about! We wil be starting the real work on The Lion King: Stomped Out Loud (title pending) for a showcase sometime next term.

I am currently working on the songs and dances, and casting will begin soon. Whether you want to be on stage or not (which I'm sure you all do!), there will be something for everyone.

I hope you are looking forward to it as much as I am! See you all next year!
