Aug.10th: Please join us in prayer this Ramazaan

posted Sep 3, 2010 5:49 PM by Cassius Soares

Aug.10th: This last month & in the last few days, I've also been promoting the upcoming '30 Days Prayer Focus' starting next week (Aug.11th).  This time, the 'Vicar General' of the diocese has sent 150 booklets to every parish, convent & Catholic institution in our diocese, with a personal encouragement to join this prayer initiative.

A further 150 booklets have been distributed among Catholic leaders, who have expressed interested in joining this prayer initiative and encouraging others to do so as well.

I am encouraged that interest is growing each year.

Please remember to join in prayer as much as you can during this Ramazaan.
Blessings!
Cassius.

Jul.30th: Prayer for the 'Portuguese Inquisition in Goa'

posted Sep 3, 2010 5:35 PM by Cassius Soares

Aug.5th: While I was in Goa, I was also involved in a 'prayer initiative' - some YWAM'ers & locals came together, to pray for the Portuguese Inquisition in Goa - a tremendous blot on our history. We were a small group and one morning was too short for such a big topic; so it was a tiny step, but a good beginning.  Am grateful that it has generated some momentum and need to trust God now to keep it moving forward and gather more people in this prayer initiative.

I am sure I will continue to be involved in this prayer initiative in the coming months, but am waiting on God for the next steps.

Please pray for this too & all of us involved in it.  It is a huge area of spiritual warfare, as it affects missions in Goa & all of India.  It also continues to negatively affect relationships between Christians in Goa, styles of leadership, attitudes toward people of other religions and attitudes toward Indian languages & culture.

If any of you are interested in being a part of this prayer initiative, please do contact us

Jul.26th-29th: Teaching on the Father Heart of God

posted Sep 3, 2010 5:19 PM by Cassius Soares

Aug.5th: Hi everyone! Just returned from 10 days in Goa at the end of July, teaching on the 'Father Heart of God' at the YWAM Goa DTS.  I also got to share on 'Kerygma Teams' and our work among & with Catholics , while I was there.  It was a great group of young people.  I used some new material this time & was getting revelation myself, as I was teaching.  I am so grateful when that happens.  It's one of the reasons I love teaching.

YWAM leaders in different parts of India & also surrounding nations are asking for help in reaching out to Catholics in a sensitive & effective way.  So I am trying to choose to speak on those DTS's, where I can combine it with helping YWAM bases to be more proactive & strategic in reaching out to Catholics and also creating a 'Catholic-friendly' atmosphere in our bases, so that we can attract more Catholics to work with YWAM.

YWAM Goa is one of those places, where the leadership is open & interested in learning more about this.

Report on Sri Lanka outreach with Lonavla DTS

posted Jul 17, 2010 8:40 AM by Cassius Soares   [ updated Sep 3, 2010 5:46 PM ]

Jun.18th: As many of you know, Freddy & Asha who have been with KT in Pune for over 4 years have a long-term desire to start 'Kerygma Teams' in Sri Lanka.  Recently an opportunity became available for them to partner with one of the regular DTS's in our YWAM training campus in Lonavla & lead their outreach for a month to the island nation of Sri Lanka.  Just last year in April, Freddy had made his first exploratory trip into Sri Lanka and was very encouraged by the openness & response there to the vision & ministry of 'Kerygma Teams' (a lot of the Sri Lankan Tamils are Catholic).

This time they decided to try & go as a family.  It was quite an adventure (prayer & engaging with corrupt officials), with Asha getting her passport at the last-minute, when they had almost given up hopes of her being able to go on the outreach.  Also, many of the plans they had made together with the DTS team from Lonavla didn't work out, but as they discovered God had other plans which resulted in a very successful & fruitful outreach.

The highlights from Freddy & Asha:

  • In Rakwana, did a 'prayer walk' and prayed for spiritual bondages to be broken.  Involved in 'church ministry' and 'youth ministry' as well.  Worked with the Union Pentecostal Church.  Conducted a youth meeting, where around 70 students gathered.  They were touched by the presence of God & were really blessed.

  • In Thirucoil, we were mostly involved in ministry to children.  Visited 2 schools (one Catholic) and shared God's love & truth with the children.  Ministered to around 200 kids.  Was able to train the team (all Protestants besides us) on how to work sensitively in Catholic settings.

  • Also had the opportunity to work with the Methodist church - house visiting & open-air meetings in areas affected by the tsunaami.  Around 30 people heard the gospel and 3 people received Jesus personally as their Saviour.

  • In Akkarapattu, we were involved in church ministry, youth ministry, open-air meetings & house prayer meetings.  Worked with the AOG church.  Conducted 4 open-air meetings - around 135 people heard the gospel and 20 people received Jesus personally as their Saviour.

  • In Singhaladi, we worked with the Methodist church - mainly involved in youth meetings & house visiting.

Freddy & Asha came back from the outreach tired, but very happy at their first steps into Sri Lanka & how the Lord had used them & the team.  They ask for your prayer support to continue ministering into Sri Lanka.  Freddy is hoping to make another trip to Sri Lanka in August, if all goes well.
