I started my first novel when a friend challenged me to attempt the 2007 NaNoWriMo. One month and 55,000 words later, the first draft of Joshuwu Bradley, Rocket Scientist, was finished. Then I decided maybe I should try to start learning how to actually write. Between NaNos, I wrote The Veil of Venus, and then Tempus Interruptus during the '08 NaNo. Tempus has been shelved while editing The Veil of Venus and cranking out the first draft of its sequel, Center of Gravity. The latest project is Thunderbird, a Christian YA novel inspired by Tlingit culture and legends. I grew up listening to such stories as "How the Chipmunk got its Stripes," and "How the Rabbit got on the Moon." It's fun developing a fantasy land that isn't filled with elves and dwarves.
