Commodores Report
Jan. 2012

Commodore,

For those of you that do not know me I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.  My name is John Pennington and I am your Commodore of the Kent Narrows Yacht Club.  I would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to the Change of Watch.  What is the Change of Watch?  The Change of Watch is the swearing in ceremony where elected Kent Narrows Yacht Club Officers take their official oath of office.  The Chang of Watch is held every year on the first Saturday of March.  All Officers and Governors must wear their winter uniforms (navy blue blazer, white dress shirt, navy blue tie, gray pants, black  socks, and shoes); to this formal affair.  The ceremony takes it’s roots from maritime history, all officers pledge his or her allegiance to the Kent Narrows Yacht Club and the duties of their elected position.  Officers and governors are elected by the general membership of the Kent Narrows Yacht Club (all slip holders at Mears Point Marina are members).  All members of the yacht club are invited and encouraged to attend this ceremony and meet the people they have elected to run the yacht club as described in the Kent Narrows Yacht Club By-law.  This is a great opportunity to reconnect with old friends and make new ones.

This years Change of Watch is Saturday, March 3, 2012, from 4 PM to 9 PM at the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department Community Hall.  Also, for those traveling a distance arrangements have been made with the Best Western for discounted room rates.  Bus transportation will be provided from the Marina and the Best Western to and from the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department.

For registration information please see the website.

I look forward to coming year as your Commodore.

John Pennington
