This website is the repository of the fuel conversion group at the division of Energy Science at Luleå University of Technology, Sweden. I am Kentaro Umeki, the group leader and responsible person for the content of this website.

You can find the information of our research activities related to the development of renewable energy technologies from biomass. The main research areas are so called thermochemical conversion, and we are specially looking at how the conversion of fuels progresses.

Main research interests:

Our research activities are related to the development and/or improvement of energy conversion technologies that utilize biomass as a renewable energy sources. The technologies include biomass combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, and industrial processes such as metallurgy. The product of interests varies from electricity, heat, chemicals (fuels), and advanced carbon materials. The short description of each research project can be found in research tab.
