My father's family attended this National School, which was inder-denominational - note: material taken from the book "Memories of Ballygawley" by Jack Johnston and Eliesh McSorley
The
extract from the Register shows Joseph Allen, my father's second
cousin, my father's name Isaac Allen and his brother John Allen (one of
my uncles) ![]() Noted
in the roll-book are uncles Jim Allen (James), John Allen and my father
Isaac Allen all from Errigle. There was a Mary Allen at 17yrs and
3mths - I am not sure what the connection was, but she attended school
to a late age. Some local names that I am familiar with are the McGirr,
Rainey, McDonald, Owens, Montague, Lynch, others I don't recognise.

Rarogan National School I think that my father and some of his siblings must have featured in the Rarogan pre-closure picture taken in 1928, also my uncle Jim, who had the distinction of going to it for one day, the day before it closed and they all then transferred to Garvaghy National School.
