Okay, here goes. My name is Kennie, and today I start on a mission to lose fat the healthy way--diet and exercise. Click on My Weight and Exercise in the sidebar to view the progress of my weight and exercise regimen. Also, on my diet page, you can see exactly what I eat every day! Talk about being accountable. Basically, my plans are to use my new bike and a rigorous tracking of my food consumption to help me lose about 100 pounds. Please feel free to send me emails or leave a comment at the bottom of the page for encouragement or to reprimand me when you see that I've splurged. :) The Pictures page will show you some "before pics" as well as give you a little information about myself. I will update with new pictures every now and then, so you can see my progress there. Here's my new Gary Fisher Piranha... March 10, 2009 Okay, I've finally had enough of people gettin' on my case for not posting, so here I go. :) It really has been going well, I've just been so concerned with finding a full time job, that I haven't really thought about much else. Anyway, you'll see that my weight has come down a few more pounds. Once I get down to 300 I'll post some new pics. Thanks for the encouragement to keep it up everyone. Oh, and I've decided not to post everything I eat, and here's why. The NutriSystem diet is essentially identical each day, so I will only post what I eat in addition to my Nutrisystem. That will make things easier for me, so I'll probably not be so intimidated with having to make a post. Cheers! I wore a sweater for a fireworks show that I had not put on in a while (it was a little chilly tonight even though it got to the 80s today here in the sunny south). It was definitely looser than it was, say, 3 months ago! I was excited. February 25, 2009 The food came in today--a couple of days early! So far, I've had a breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner. The main thing that I notice about them is that they are very small, but I really can't complain about the taste. I've looked at a few reviews and noticed that some people think they are bland. Hmmm....bland, not really. I think they taste pretty good. Another thing that I have noticed is that they put quite a bit of protein in their food selections, so despite the small portions, I am not hungry right now. It's a little early to tell, but I think this is going to work well. I've decided to add nutrition information on my diet page now that it is quite easy to keep track. I know my weight has gone up a little. Hopefully it will start back down now that I started on NutriSystem. February 23, 2009 I broke some of the pawls in my freehub last time I took my bike off road. It's in the shop, but the guy said that everything is under warantee, and he is even going to do the labor for free because of a misdiagnosis when I took it in the first time. I have found the Great Escape here in Greenville, SC to be a very friendly, helpful bike shop. Okay, I'm still finding it difficult to fix good foods for me to eat. I would rather stick a needle in my eye than fix myself a nice supper (well, maybe not quite). So, my parents have offered to buy me a couple months of NutriSystem foods for me to have easy meals and to be able to lose weight before the wedding. Oh, and I also changed the comments thing at the bottom. It was giving me some problems, so I replaced it with the current one. It is tested and it works. I receive the emails in my gmail account. February 19, 2009 Well, I'm happy to see that my weight is working its way down, but I would like to see it go a little faster, as I am getting barely behind. I am going to do a two or three day low carb booster diet to get myself back on track. The good news is that I can notice significant improvements in my stamina almost every time I ride. Also, I attended my church's special service this evening and noticed that my dress pants have gotten bigger on me (I hope it's me getting smaller rather than my pants getting larger). The service was really good--here is the speaker's web page. I know that I haven't posted my diet lately. I have been keeping track on paper and will update less often than my weight only because it seems to be a waste of good time to have to edit that page every day. I should get to it tomorrow. Thanks to those who have emailed and left comments for support! February 16, 2009 I just got through biking the local path/trail. This is the first time in a month that I had not biked for two days in a row (14th and 15th). I made the best gains that I've felt yet. On the 13th I really pushed myself to get up Paris Mountain, and with the two days for my muscles to rebuild, I could tell that I had gained endurance and strength. Maybe I'll routinely give myself a two day break every so often. Happy to see my weight come down a little today. February 14, 2009 - Valentine's Day Happy Valentine's Day! For the last month I've tried to lose weight simply on the basis that I ride my bike a ton (and be somewhat careful about what I eat). As you can see, my diet didn't get to a very good start (whopper and cupcakes). Now, it's Valentine's Day, and I am going out to dinner. What am I going to do!!!! Seriously, though, I plan to more carefully watch not only how much I eat, but also the quality of foods that I eat from now on. February 13, 2009 I added my diet and links page. Now you can see what I'm eating daily! Also, I fought my way tooth and nail up Paris Mountain today (whew)! I look forward to when that will get easier due to being lighter. February 12, 2009 Okay, I've added the exercise section on my weight page. I'm going to try for five days of cardio a week! February 11, 2009 Blog begins. Wish me luck! |
